How an engineer with a deep love of music found himself confronted with the daunting task of writing music history…

I’m not a writer, so how did I get here?

This blog is about the avant garde.  It's about the people pushing boundaries and exploring the unknown because that is what makes life worth living. You will learn about the artists, musicians and engineers that I have worked with and been influenced by.  Those are the people that have made me, and I want you to know about them.  For now, I'm focusing on the history of avant music to help me write a book I'm calling "The Gomelsky Recordings", but other stories will get dropped into the blog from time to time.  Don't know who Gomelsky is?  Neither did I until a few years ago when I discovered his name was all over my record collection.  And that has led me to this place, doing something I've never done before:  writing.  What could be more avant garde than that?

Like anyone pursuing the avant garde I will learn and experiment.  One person I've learned from is Brian Eno, the non-musician.  I will try to become the non-writer.

Working with artists and engineers for most of my life, I empathize with both and claim to be neither.
